URGENT UPDATE: For the first time in history, the Re/Max Stadium, home of the Edmonton Riverhawks, was transformed into a vibrant golf driving range on September 23, 2023. This unique event, hosted by Projct Golf Experience (PGX), celebrates the unofficial end of summer and offers a fun, inclusive environment for all ages to engage with golf.

The driving range opened its doors at 12 p.m. and will run until 5 p.m., attracting between 500 to 1,000 attendees throughout the day. With unlimited balls, games, and a nine-hole mini-golf course, the event aims to break down barriers associated with golf, especially for beginners. “Having events like this, where we focus on the kids, gives them an opportunity to come out like they may not have before,” said PGX Director of Experience Dave Starrie.

Families are encouraged to attend, with free admission for kids under 12. Attendees can also explore friendly competitions for exciting prizes, including golf lessons from professionals, designed to alleviate the stress often associated with the sport. One parent, Adam Kerr, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “We thought it would be a great opportunity to get our girls out to see what golf is about and be in a great atmosphere.”

The atmosphere is further enhanced with activities like glitter tattoos, ensuring that children and families remain entertained throughout the day. PGX has been bringing golf experiences to local driving ranges in Edmonton since 2017 and is excited about the growing interest. “I think next year is going to be our biggest year,” Starrie added, noting inquiries from schools and community organizations about hosting similar events.

Following the driving range, a range party is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will continue until approximately 10 p.m.. Enthusiasts can still purchase tickets at the door, with a reminder from Starrie to leave their drivers at home to avoid any accidental home runs.

This groundbreaking transformation of a baseball stadium into a golf venue highlights the community’s effort to make golf accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity to swing some clubs in a stadium setting!
