Fieldcrest Claims Thrilling Volleyball Win Over Tremont, 3-1
UPDATE: Fieldcrest Knights secured a thrilling victory over Tremont in girls volleyball on October 12, 2023, with a decisive score of 3-1. The match showcased an intense finish, highlighting the Knights’ resilience as they fought back after dropping the second set.
TeriLynn Timmerman led the charge for Fieldcrest, contributing three aces and five kills. Macy Gochanour’s outstanding performance included 18 digs and 18 assists, while teammates Kelani Armstrong and Pru Mangan added five kills and six kills respectively. Jersey Modro also shone with three blocks, underscoring the team’s strong defensive play.
In another match, Seneca triumphed over St. Bede, winning 25-11, 26-24. Despite the loss, St. Bede’s Nelle Potthoff stood out with five kills and seven digs, while Kijah Lucas and Ava Balestri contributed significantly with four kills and six assists.
In boys soccer, Byron defeated Princeton 3-1 in a competitive matchup, marking another high-stakes clash between the teams.
Cross country results from Kewanee revealed a tight race, with the Bureau Valley boys placing fourth and the Storm girls taking fifth in the Lincoln Trail Conference Meet. Notably, only 15 points separated the top five teams in the boys’ competition. Maddox Moore finished strong in 7th place with a time of 16:44.36, and Adrian Gallardo followed closely in 10th place at 17:16.39, both earning all-conference honors.
On the girls’ side, Gemma Moore led Bureau Valley with a time of 20:47.23, securing 14th place. Summer Hamilton and Kynzleigh Garza followed with respectable finishes, rounding out a strong team effort.
In girls tennis, Rochelle edged out Princeton 3-2 with standout performances from the doubles teams of Anna Ellis and Ava Munson, as well as Lilly Mabry and Piper Hansen. St. Bede claimed victory over Kewanee 4-1, with Josie Trujillo winning her singles match 6-2, 6-4.
