Fort Langley Cranberry Festival Kicks Off This Saturday!
UPDATE: The highly anticipated Cranberry Festival is set to transform Fort Langley into a bustling hub of activity this Saturday, October 11, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect over 35,000 attendees to flock to the village streets in celebration of this tart red berry that plays a pivotal role in Thanksgiving feasts.
The festival, a cherished tradition since 1995, promises to be bigger and better this year, featuring more than 100 vendors, food trucks, and a vibrant beer garden. The day kicks off early with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Fort Langley Lions Club from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for just $10.
Festival-goers can look forward to a variety of entertainment, a dedicated kids’ zone, and scrumptious cranberry sales. The Fort Langley National Historic Site will also join in the festivities, highlighting the historical significance of cranberries with engaging storytelling and interactive games.
Don’t miss the inaugural Scarecrow Showcase at the historic site, running from October 11 to 31. Guests can participate in a scavenger hunt, discover creatively designed scarecrows, and vote for their favorite—either onsite or via the FLNHS Facebook page. The winner will be announced on November 1.
At the waterfront, excitement builds for the canoe races on the Fraser River, starting with the first heat at 9:30 a.m. and finals around 3 p.m.. Spectators can cheer on teams racing over a 1,000 metre course on the Bedford Channel, culminating in the thrilling Pumpkin Drop and Cranberry Juice Run.
This is not just a festival; it’s a vibrant community celebration that brings families and friends together. With activities spread throughout the village and a rich history to explore, the Cranberry Festival is poised to be the highlight of the fall season.
