Friday Night Drive Names Team of the Week for Week 7 – MVP Announced!

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Friday Night Drive Team of the Week for Week 7 of the 2025 season has just been announced, following an impressive turnout of 2,642 voters and a staggering 4,320 total votes. The excitement surrounding this recognition highlights the incredible talent showcased on the field last week.
Team of the Week MVP honors go to Tyler Drake from Geneva, who delivered a standout performance with 12 total tackles and a crucial rushing touchdown in a thrilling face-off against Glenbard North.
Quarterback Spotlight: In a gripping performance, Cruz Herrera of St. Charles East completed 19 of 33 passes for 432 yards and threw four touchdowns in a nail-biting clash against Lake Park. Not to be outdone, Brendan Mecher from Lockport scrambled for all four touchdowns, leading the Porters to victory over Sandburg, while Tanner Welch from Amboy went a perfect 4 for 4 passing, racking up 136 yards and four touchdowns.
As for the running backs, Conor Hunt of Marist showcased his power with 25 carries for 168 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, while Owen Yorke from Wheaton Warrenville South had a sensational game, recording 285 rushing yards and five touchdowns in a dominant 33-7 win over St. Charles North.
Receiving Highlights: Niko Menos from Lake Park delivered a jaw-dropping performance with 11 receptions for 214 yards, including a game-winning touchdown with just eight seconds left on the clock in a thrilling 41-35 victory against St. Charles East.
The offensive line shined as well, with Will Rosenow from Sycamore playing a crucial role in their near 200 yards of rushing offense, while Ronnie Smith helped Jacobs rack up 430 total yards in their win over Dundee-Crown.
On the defensive front, Ryan Freeding of Wheaton Warrenville South made significant contributions with 3 tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Colin Dominiak from Plainfield East excelled with a forced fumble and two tackles for loss against Joliet West.
The defensive back position also saw outstanding performances, with Logan Thennes of Prairie Ridge scoring his first career rushing touchdown and adding an interception. In a tie for standout performances, Saimarr Howell from Batavia made eight solo tackles, while Parker Auxier from Burlington Central recorded two interceptions in a decisive win over Huntley.
