Fulton’s Landen Leu Scores 22 Points in Thrilling Victory
UPDATE: In a thrilling basketball showdown, Fulton’s Landen Leu scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Steamers to a 65-55 victory over Bureau Valley on Friday. This win marks a significant moment for Fulton as they continue to establish their dominance on the court.
In addition to Leu’s standout performance, Jacob Voss contributed 17 points, solidifying the team’s success. Bureau Valley’s Carson Gruber led his team with 17 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Steamers’ offensive onslaught.
The action didn’t stop there. In another pivotal match, Rock Island decisively defeated Sterling with a score of 68-38. Sterling now holds a record of 2-2 in Western Big 6 Conference play. Koby Bell was the top scorer for Sterling with 10 points, while Xavian Prather added 8 points.
Meanwhile, Oregon triumphed over Forreston with a commanding score of 63-43. Keaton Salsbury led Oregon with 19 points, and Benny Olalde followed with 13 points. The Hawks made a remarkable comeback, outscoring Forreston 22-5 in a decisive second quarter after initially trailing 14-8.
In girls basketball, the Fulton Steamers showcased their resilience by defeating Bureau Valley 55-46. After trailing 27-22 at halftime, Haley Smither erupted in the second half, finishing with 19 points, including an impressive 14 points after the break.
In boys bowling, Oregon secured a convincing win over Harvard with a final score of 3,412 to 2,818. RJ Keene led the Hawks with a stellar 674 series, while Rylann Delehanty contributed with a 610. This victory improved Oregon’s record to 6-2.
