Google Search’s AI Mode Launches in the UK Today!
UPDATE: Google Search has officially launched its highly anticipated AI Mode for users in the UK starting today, July 15, 2023. This new feature promises to transform the way users interact with search results, providing a more conversational and intuitive experience.
The rollout of AI Mode comes after successful launches in the US and India earlier this year. Google has confirmed that the feature will be accessible to all users in the UK, although it will be implemented in stages over the next few days. Some users may access the feature immediately, while the complete rollout is expected by the end of this week.
What does this mean for UK users? With AI Mode, Google Search will now offer results generated using advanced artificial intelligence, creating a more interactive interface that minimizes the number of links to other pages. Instead of traditional search results, users can expect a more engaging and conversation-like format, ideal for complex inquiries and exploratory questions.
This innovative tool leverages a customized version of Gemini 2.5, which enhances the search experience through a unique query fan-out technique. This method allows the AI to break down inquiries into subtopics, enabling multiple searches simultaneously. For example, a user can ask, “What are the best things to do in Edinburgh this weekend with friends? We’re big foodies who enjoy music and exploring off the beaten track.”
“AI Mode is designed for far more complicated tasks like comparing products, planning trips, or understanding complex how-tos,” Google officials stated.
Users can access the AI Mode by visiting google.com/aimode directly, or by clicking on the new “AI Mode” tab appearing in the top left corner of the search results page. For those using Android or iOS devices, the feature will also be available at the top of the main tab and as a shortcut on the device’s home screen.
This launch signifies a major shift in how users will seek information, allowing for more detailed and nuanced questions. As Google continues to roll out AI Mode, the implications for everyday searches could be profound, offering an immediate benefit to users seeking deeper insights and personalized information.
The introduction of AI Mode in the UK marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of digital search, and users are encouraged to explore the new functionalities as they become available. Stay tuned for more updates as this feature gains traction across the region.
