Guelph Teen Charged After Spitting on 5 Police Officers
UPDATE: A 16-year-old boy from Guelph has been charged with multiple counts of assault following a shocking incident involving police officers and a security guard. The arrest, made on October 26, 2023, comes after the teen allegedly spat on five police officers while receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Police were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence on Waterloo Avenue just before 5 p.m. on October 26. Upon arrival, officers encountered the teenager, who reportedly pushed an officer in the chest. The teen was promptly apprehended and taken to the hospital for treatment.
While under medical care, the situation escalated. Authorities report that the teen spat at two officers, hitting them in the face, and struck two others on their clothing. His behavior worsened when he was moved to a private room, where he allegedly spat in the faces of both a third police officer and a security guard.
Guelph police confirmed that the teen was located at a residence in the city’s south end on Sunday and taken into custody. He now faces five counts of assaulting police and one count of assault. The teen is scheduled to appear in court on December 31, 2023.
