Hero Coach Saves Man’s Life Twice in One Year in B.C. Park
BREAKING: A remarkable story of heroism unfolds as Errol Aguilera saved a man’s life using CPR not once, but twice within a year at Hastings Park in Port Moody, B.C.. Just a year ago, on May 10, 2024, Aguilera’s quick actions were pivotal in reviving Vladimir Ruzic, who had gone into cardiac arrest while enjoying a family outing.
The day started beautifully, with Ruzic feeling optimistic about life. But his world turned upside down when he suddenly collapsed. Aguilera, a dedicated coach of young sprinters, was at the park and immediately sprang into action, administering CPR until paramedics arrived. Ruzic underwent double bypass surgery and spent a significant time in recovery.
In a twist of fate, one year later, Ruzic invited Aguilera to dinner on Commercial Drive to commemorate the life-saving bond they forged. However, as they awaited their table, tragedy struck again. A man outside the restaurant went into cardiac arrest, and Aguilera didn’t hesitate to help once more. Ruzic joined him, providing reassurance to the stricken man while waiting for emergency services.
“What are the chances? I don’t know,” Ruzic remarked, reflecting on the surreal circumstances. Although the identity of the man they rescued remains unknown, paramedics assured them he was breathing and stable at the scene.
This extraordinary experience has strengthened the bond between Ruzic and Aguilera. Ruzic shared,
“We have this bond now and this whole understanding that, I don’t think most people experience that in this life, ever.”
In light of their story, Ruzic has been inspired to launch a YouTube channel to spread awareness about the importance of CPR.
November is recognized as CPR Month, and according to the Canadian Red Cross, immediate bystander CPR can nearly double the chances of survival for cardiac arrest victims outside a hospital.
The duo’s incredible story not only highlights the critical importance of CPR training but also serves as a reminder to cherish connections in life. Their experiences underscore how crucial it is to be prepared to act in emergencies, as you never know when someone might need help.
Stay tuned for more updates on this inspiring story and learn how you can make a difference in emergencies by becoming CPR certified.
