Hometown for Hunger Kicks Off Today: Community Rallies to Fight Hunger
URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated Hometown for Hunger fundraiser is underway today at Denham Ford in Cranbrook, promising a lively community event filled with fun and purpose. Kicking off at 11 a.m. and running until 2 p.m., this year marks the 10th anniversary of the popular fundraiser, hosted in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR).
This event is more than just a party; it directly supports the Cranbrook Salvation Army‘s local food programs. Attendees can expect an exciting lineup of food trucks, engaging activities for children, a dunk tank featuring local celebrities, and thrilling food-eating contests.
Among the local heroes taking the plunge in the dunk tank is Sven Sloeserwij from Cranbrook Tourism, alongside Kim Levie from the Rockin’ in the Rockies car club. Additionally, Rene Kowalchuk, Denham Ford’s General Manager, is poised to take a dip if community donations hit their mark.
To amplify the impact, both Denham Ford and StellerVista Credit Union are matching donations up to $1,000. Every contribution helps bolster the CFKR’s StellerVista Credit Union endowment, aimed at combating hunger in the region.
The CFKR is currently accepting tax-receiptable charitable donations, making it easy for community members to contribute. Donations can be made through various methods:
– Online credit card link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/134507
– E-transfer to [email protected] (include contact info and ‘H4H-2025’ in the notes)
– Cheque made out to ‘CFKR’ with ‘H4H-2025’ in the memo
– Cash donations are also welcome on-site.
As the community gathers for this heartfelt cause, every dollar raised will make a significant difference in supporting those in need. Don’t miss the chance to join this vital effort and have fun while helping combat hunger.
Stay tuned for updates as the event unfolds, and be sure to share this news to encourage community participation!
