Hundreds of Stuffed Animals Tossed at Oil Kings Game for Charity
URGENT UPDATE: A heartwarming spectacle unfolded at the Oil Kings game on December 3, 2023, as hundreds of stuffed animals were thrown onto the ice, igniting a wave of community spirit for a noble cause. The event, known as the Teddy Bear Toss, was ignited by a goal from forward Joe Iginla in the second period, prompting fans to launch their generous donations onto the rink.
This year’s event was a significant success, with toys collected benefiting 800 CHED Santas Anonymous, an organization dedicated to delivering toys to children in need across Edmonton during the holiday season. Fans eagerly participated, showcasing their support for this cherished tradition which has been running since 2007. To date, more than 177,000 stuffed animals have been donated through this initiative, highlighting the community’s commitment to spreading joy and kindness.
The toys tossed onto the ice will be distributed by Santas Anonymous, ensuring that local children experience the joy of receiving gifts this holiday season. Additionally, the net proceeds from the Oil Kings’ specialty jersey auction will also contribute to supporting this vital cause, demonstrating a strong partnership between the team and the community.
As the festive season approaches, the Oil Kings continue to play a pivotal role in fostering goodwill and generosity. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on future events, as the team aims to further its charitable efforts and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children across the region.
