Join Kane County’s Naturalist Program: Free Info Session Nov. 6
URGENT UPDATE: The Kane County Forest Preserve District is hosting a crucial information session for adults interested in becoming certified naturalists. This free event takes place on November 6 at 7 PM at the Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, located at 3795 Campton Hills Road, St. Charles. No registration is necessary, making it easy for anyone to attend.
Participants will gain valuable insights into the benefits, schedule, and costs associated with the Kane County Certified Naturalist program. This program empowers residents to engage in conservation initiatives, develop their ecological knowledge, and actively participate in community service.
The naturalist program includes four field trips, six core classes, and 30 hours of advanced coursework or volunteer work required to achieve certification. Additionally, ongoing continuing education training courses will be offered annually to keep participants updated on ecological practices.
REGISTRATION ALERT: Official registration for the program opens on November 7 at 8 AM and will remain open until January 2 at 11:59 PM. This cooperative initiative involves not only the Kane County Forest Preserve District but also the St. Charles and Geneva park districts, fostering a community dedicated to habitat restoration and environmental education.
