Kimberley Invites Nominations for Jack Ratcliffe Community Award
UPDATE: The City of Kimberley urgently seeks nominations for the 2025 Jack Ratcliffe Commitment to Community Award. This initiative honors the enduring legacy of Jack Ratcliffe, a pillar of the community who dedicated decades to service and volunteerism before his passing in December 2025.
Jack Ratcliffe’s impact on Kimberley is immeasurable. Recognized as the inaugural recipient of this annual award established in 2020, Ratcliffe exemplified the spirit of giving that defines this community. The award celebrates individuals or groups whose significant contributions enhance the lives of Kimberley residents through their time, actions, and talents.
Mayor Don McCormick emphasized the importance of this award, stating, “Jack was the embodiment of community spirit. His decades of service, generosity, and leadership touched every corner of Kimberley. With Jack’s passing this past fall, this award takes on added significance this year.”
Residents of Kimberley are encouraged to nominate candidates who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to the community—specifically, a minimum of three years of service. Those nominated should have made impactful contributions through volunteerism, leadership, and service that significantly improve the quality of life for local residents.
The recipient of the award will not only have their name engraved on the “Jack Ratcliffe Commitment to Community” plaque displayed prominently at City Hall but will also receive an award and the opportunity to donate $500 to a registered not-for-profit or incorporated charity of their choice.
Nominations are open until February 2, 2025, and interested parties can submit their nominations via the form available at www.kimberley.ca/community-grants.
Let’s honor Jack Ratcliffe’s memory by celebrating those who carry on his tradition of selfless service. The City of Kimberley invites the community to come forward and recognize the individuals who inspire and uplift the community, continuing Ratcliffe’s legacy of dedication and civic pride.
This is a time to reflect on the spirit of giving that makes Kimberley a unique and special place. Don’t miss your chance to participate in this vital recognition of community spirit!
