Kimberley Library’s ‘Let’s Travel’ Series Kicks Off This Fall
UPDATE: The Kimberley Public Library is set to launch its exciting “Let’s Travel” series this fall, starting on September 26, 2023. This innovative initiative aims to transport attendees around the globe through captivating presentations by local travel writers.
The series features thrilling narratives that span from the majestic landscapes of Iceland and Greenland to the vibrant cultures of India and Egypt. “Join us for unforgettable journeys through stunning places and rich cultures,” said library staff.
Key Dates:
– **September 26** – Journey through India with Gerry Feehan
– **October 3 and 10** – Explore Japan with Stephen Interisano
– **November 21 and 28** – Discover Portugal with Stephen Interisano
– **December 5 and 12** – Experience Iceland and Greenland with Stephen Interisano
– **January 9 and 16, February 6 and 13, March 13 and 20** – National Parks of Canada with Stephen Interisano
– **January 30** – Explore Egypt and The Nile with Gerry Feehan
These events are free and will be held in the library’s upstairs reading room. To register, call 250-427-3112 or email [email protected].
Travel enthusiasts will be inspired by Feehan, an award-winning travel writer who ditched a successful law career to share his explorations. “There are a couple of ways to experience ‘the real flavour’ of a country,” Feehan stated. “You can go first class, but when you ‘buy it’ you’ll only see a sanitized version of the world. Alternatively, you can wander out into the streets solo and really get immersed.”
Interisano, another community favorite, highlighted the importance of shared experiences. “If there’s one thing we like to accumulate, it’s memories and experiences. That’s why, 15 years ago Janet and I took a year off work and travelled around the world.”
This series not only promises to inform but also to engage and inspire community members. As travel continues to be a source of joy and connection, these presentations serve as a reminder of the world’s wonders.
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to explore the world without leaving Kimberley! Keep up to date with all programming at KPL [here](https://kimberley.bc.libraries.coop).
