Kitchener Rangers Announce Record $7.77 Million Revenue Ahead of Season
UPDATE: The Kitchener Rangers have just announced a record-breaking financial milestone, achieving an impressive $7.77 million in revenue for the 2024-2025 season. This news comes just days before the start of the new hockey season, signaling strong organizational health and momentum.
“We’re very healthy,” stated Joe Birch, Chief Operating Officer of the Rangers. “I had a bit of a mandate and a goal to get us back to pre-pandemic levels. I can safely say that we’re there.” Birch credited the team’s dedicated business staff for their exceptional efforts in driving ticket sales, which have been the primary catalyst for this financial growth.
As the Kitchener Rangers gear up for the new season, they face a transformed landscape in the Ontario Hockey League. A recent decision by the NCAA Division 1 Council now allows players from the Canadian Hockey League to join American college teams, providing more options for player development. This has resulted in an expanded roster for the Rangers, although it comes with increased costs.
“Our roster size is now bigger, we traveled more often into earlier road trips, so a three-hour road trip requires additional hotel nights, equipment costs, meals, and billets,” Birch explained. While the financial implications are significant, Birch is optimistic that a larger roster will translate into greater success on the ice.
In addition to the financial gains, the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation to enhance player facilities, further positioning the Rangers for success this season. The anticipation among fans is palpable as the team makes final adjustments to its roster with just one week remaining before the opening game.
The Kitchener Rangers are also in the running to host the 2027 Memorial Cup, competing against rivals for the opportunity to showcase the prestigious tournament. This potential hosting could further elevate their profile in the league and enhance community support.
With these developments unfolding rapidly, hockey enthusiasts and supporters should stay tuned for more updates as the Kitchener Rangers prepare to embark on what promises to be an exciting season. The financial success and strategic adjustments indicate a strong readiness to compete at the highest level.
