Kitchener Rangers Host FanFest, Kick Off Season with Excitement

BREAKING: The Kitchener Rangers have just concluded their highly anticipated FanFest, marking the exciting start of the 2025-26 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) season. This annual event, held on September 3 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, attracted approximately 3,000 fans eager to connect with their favorite players and enjoy a day filled with fun, food, and community spirit.
The atmosphere was electric as families gathered, sharing laughter and the enticing aroma of barbecue. Fans engaged with this year’s team ahead of a thrilling exhibition game against the Saginaw Spirit. “It’s the first chance that the community gets the opportunity to interact with our players,” said Joe Birch, Chief Operating Officer of the Kitchener Rangers. “It’s a really special day.”
This year’s FanFest not only celebrated the team’s upcoming season but also raised funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tickets sold during the preseason games have contributed significantly to this noble cause, ensuring that local children’s wishes can come true. Anne Boehm, area coordinator for Make-A-Wish, emphasized the impact of the partnership: “It’s not only the funds that are raised but the awareness that happens because of this event. You can’t put a price tag on that.”
Fans had the unique opportunity to enjoy various attractions, delicious food, and a chance to meet players like Luke Ellinas, who is entering his final year with the team. “It’s always fun to meet [the fans] and see everyone who supports us during the year,” Ellinas remarked. “It’s awesome to have that relationship with them, so it’s really special.”
The Kitchener Rangers showcased their commitment to community engagement and support throughout the preseason, which included multiple exhibition games against the Brantford Bulldogs and Oshawa Generals. The collaboration with Make-A-Wish has created a meaningful connection between the team and its fans, fostering a sense of unity and excitement for the season ahead.
As the Rangers gear up for the official season opener later this month, the palpable excitement among fans and players alike is undeniable. “The start of the year is always met with such great excitement and anticipation,” Birch added. “We know we have a really special hockey team here.”
Expectations are high as the Kitchener Rangers aim for success in the upcoming season, with fans like Jylin Tistalo expressing overwhelming support. “I absolutely love these guys,” Tistalo said, reflecting the sentiment of many fans. “I think they’re going to be doing so well in the 2026 OHL championship.”
As the buzz from FanFest lingers, the community is poised for a season filled with thrilling hockey and heartwarming moments. Stay tuned for more updates as the Kitchener Rangers embark on their journey in the OHL.
