URGENT UPDATE: The Langley RCMP is ramping up patrols ahead of the highly anticipated Langley Good Times Cruise-In on September 6. Authorities are warning car enthusiasts about increased enforcement due to a rise in illegal car gatherings linked to the event.

As thousands prepare to celebrate classic cars this Saturday, police are taking a firm stand against unsanctioned meetups that have disrupted the community in previous years. “Each year, the Cruise-In brings visitors to our community for family-friendly fun. However, illegal gatherings have created unsafe conditions,” stated Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

The RCMP has confirmed that proactive enforcement measures will be in place before and during the Cruise-In weekend. This includes:

  • Increased patrols in known gathering areas
  • Traffic enforcement targeting dangerous driving and excessive noise
  • Issuing tickets and vehicle impounds under the Motor Vehicle Act as needed

“We want the Cruise-In to remain a safe and enjoyable event for everyone,” Sharoom emphasized. “We urge people to refrain from participating in unlawful gatherings. Ignoring this warning can lead to fines, vehicle impoundment, and possible criminal charges.”

The Langley RCMP is collaborating closely with event organizers and community partners to ensure that the Cruise-In remains a positive celebration of automotive culture. Illegal street meets will be actively monitored and addressed by law enforcement.

Anyone with information about illegal gatherings is encouraged to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

As the Cruise-In weekend approaches, residents and visitors alike are reminded to prioritize safety and adhere to all regulations. This is not just about cars; it’s about the well-being of the community. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops.
