Lockport Dominates Lyons in Season Opener with 2-0 Win

UPDATE: Lockport High School’s girls volleyball team kicked off their season with a commanding 2-0 victory over Lyons on September 5, 2023. This nonconference match showcased standout performances, notably from Bridget Ferriter, who delivered 13 kills, leading the Porters to a decisive win.

The match unfolded with Lockport taking control early, bolstered by strong contributions from Hutsyn Timosciek with eight kills, Natalie Bochantin who provided 23 assists, and Kate Nelson, who secured 14 digs. The team’s defense was equally impressive, with Maya Kevo-Baker contributing two blocks.

In other matches across the area, Minooka triumphed over Bradley-Bourbonnais with a 2-0 score, guided by Kendall Kozak‘s eight kills and 11 assists. Meanwhile, Bolingbrook cruised past Hinsdale Central, winning 2-0 with Noelle Aprati racking up seven kills and four aces.

Morris also celebrated a victory with a 2-0 win against Pontiac, powered by Nine kills from Hannah Linn and 22 assists from Alexis Williams. In boys soccer, Joliet Central edged out Solorio 2-1 to advance in the Windy City Classic, while Joliet West defeated Mt. Carmel 3-1 in their opening match of the Reavis Ram Classic.
