Man, 27, Charged for Luring and Assaulting Minor Online

UPDATE: A 27-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie has been arrested and charged in a shocking case where he allegedly posed as a younger individual to lure and assault a minor under the age of 16. The Sault police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint on October 7 regarding the accused’s inappropriate online interactions with the victim.

Authorities report that the suspect knowingly misrepresented his age to the victim, engaging in sexual activities and obtaining explicit photos and videos. The investigation revealed that he was aware of the victim’s age but chose to deceive them for illicit purposes.

The suspect was taken into custody around 6 p.m. on November 24. He faces serious charges, including sexual assault of a minor, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching involving someone under 16. Additionally, he has been charged with two counts of luring a person under 18 via telecommunications, as well as charges related to child sexual abuse material.
