Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Fatal B.C. Crash

UPDATE: A 20-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing death following a tragic crash on Highway 97 in northern British Columbia that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man from Alberta. The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. on June 12, 2024, when two pickup trucks collided near the Sikanni River Bridge.

The Fort St. John RCMP report that a Ford F350 crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado, resulting in the death of the Chevy’s driver. A 24-year-old passenger in the Silverado sustained minor injuries. Authorities have confirmed that the accused, now 22 and hailing from Wonowon, B.C., faces multiple charges including impaired operation and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, as well as refusing to provide a sample.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved these charges, highlighting the severity of the situation. The young driver is set to appear in court in Fort St. John on March 30, 2026.
