Mooseheads Secure Shootout Victory Over Remparts in Thrilling Opener
UPDATE: The Halifax Mooseheads triumphed in a nail-biting shootout against the Quebec Remparts, marking a thrilling start to their six-game road trip. The decisive moment unfolded just moments ago, as Jasu Mensonen clinched the victory in the fifth round of the shootout, propelling the Mooseheads to a 12-6-1-1 record this season.
The action kicked off rapidly when Mathias Loiselle scored just 49 seconds into the first period, redirecting a shot from Charlie Morrison past Mooseheads goalie Owen Bresson. The Mooseheads quickly countered, with Owen Philips netting his first goal of the season at 13:33, leveling the game and energizing the away crowd.
In a spectacular second period, Oleg Kulebiakin showcased his talent, scoring his 13th goal of the season. He skillfully maneuvered past the Remparts’ defense, putting Halifax ahead for the first time. However, the Remparts weren’t done yet. At 6:18 of the third period, Loiselle capitalized on a defensive mistake, scoring again and forcing the game into overtime.
