Moosomin Competes in National Beautification Challenge NOW

Earlier today, July 15, 2023, judges Christine Isaac and Larry Hall arrived to evaluate Moosomin’s commitment to beautification. The town is pushing hard to impress the judges and advance toward international recognition. “We have six categories that we evaluate communities on,” Isaac stated, highlighting aspects like community appearance and environmental action.

Moosomin, which has already triumphed in the provincial challenge, aims for national glory through this competition. Last week, the Communities in Bloom Committee engaged residents in a variety of initiatives, encouraging them to tidy up yards and participate in local contests like the “most unusual planters” challenge. “Preparing for a CiB challenge brings the community together,” said local committee member Ann Norgan, reflecting on the spirit of collaboration and pride that the event inspires.

The judges’ visit is tightly scheduled, granting them only brief windows to explore the town’s offerings. “I have to say, I don’t know that I have not seen a square inch of this town at this point, but it’s all been amazing and beautiful,” Isaac remarked, emphasizing the thoroughness of their evaluation.
