Morris Community High School Launches Jazz Age “Romeo and Juliet”

UPDATE: Morris Community High School is set to thrill audiences with its innovative adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet: A Jazz Age Love Story,” premiering tonight at 7 p.m. on October 23. This fresh take on Shakespeare’s classic transports the beloved tale to the roaring 1920s, a time of jazz, flappers, and prohibition, creating an engaging and vibrant experience for theatergoers.

The excitement is palpable as students prepare to perform at the high school located in Morris, Illinois. Student actors Sarah Chrisman and Kylie Overbeck, who portray the Nurse and Benvolio, shared their enthusiasm, stating, “It’s such a fun vibe. The prohibition era has a lot of gangs, which correlates well with ‘Romeo and Juliet.’”
