URGENT UPDATE: Limited access to Mount Revelstoke National Park has just been announced as controlled burns conclude. As of noon on September 11, the Meadows in the Sky Parkway has reopened between the 12th and 21st kilometres, but certain areas will remain closed for the remainder of the season.

Parks Canada confirmed on their official Facebook page that while vehicles can travel from the 21st to 24th kilometres—specifically from Caribou Cabin to Panorama Point—pedestrians and cyclists are prohibited from this section. This decision is crucial for ongoing safety as fire crews continue to mitigate wildfire risks.

Motorists are advised that stopping along this route is not allowed, and they should remain vigilant for crews working nearby. “Please drive with care and watch for crews working along the road,” Parks Canada emphasized.

Parking at the summit is once again available but limited. Due to ongoing fire suppression efforts, roadside parking is prohibited, reducing the number of vehicles allowed at the summit. Parks staff are actively communicating parking availability to visitors as they approach the parkway entrance near Snowforest Campground.

Additional closures include popular hiking areas such as Panorama Point, the Lindmark and Summit trails above the Monashee Picnic Area, and the Eagle Knoll Trail at the summit. These restrictions are in place as Parks Canada continues to monitor the area, especially as “hot and dry weather could increase fire behavior within the prescribed fire area,” officials warned.

As the season transitions, visitors to Mount Revelstoke should be prepared to see smoke, flames, and fire suppression equipment, including helicopters conducting water bucket drops. Parks Canada has assured that safety remains a top priority, and they may implement further closures if necessary.
