New Season of Ice Road Truckers Features Prince Albert Family
BREAKING: The highly anticipated return of Ice Road Truckers premieres tonight, October 30, 2023, on The History Channel, and it features a compelling local connection from Prince Albert. Resident Shaun Harris and his sons, Riley and Zach, are set to face the grueling challenges of ice road trucking in the show’s 12th season.
This season follows the trio as they navigate treacherous ice roads in northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, delivering essential supplies to remote communities when these icy routes are the only access points. Harris, a veteran driver with over 30 years of experience, provides viewers with an authentic glimpse into the dangers and triumphs of this demanding profession.
In an exclusive statement, Harris confirmed, “I can say, unequivocally, everything that we did this winter was 100 percent authentic.” While the crew occasionally requests retakes for filming purposes, the risks they face are very real. Harris reflects on the dangers of the job, especially as his sons embark on this challenging career.
The family travelled primarily between Points North, Stoney Rapids, Fon du Lac, and Uranium City, covering one of the longest ice road crossings in Western Canada, which spans approximately 120 kilometers. Harris expressed concern for his sons, particularly given the tragic history of their family; his brother fell through the ice while building roads in the late 1980s, a stark reminder of the risks involved.
Harris noted their preparation included a week of safety courses and meeting with fellow cast members and production crews. “After seven days, we came back to Prince Albert and it was game on,” he recounted, highlighting the excitement and nerves that come with this new chapter.
Ice Road Truckers first premiered on June 17, 2007, and has captivated audiences with its thrilling portrayal of the harsh realities faced by truckers in extreme conditions. As the new season kicks off at 8 p.m. local time tonight, fans are eager to see how the Harris family tackles the icy challenges ahead.
The emotional stakes and the real-life risks make this season not just a reality show, but a gripping narrative of survival and family legacy. Tune in tonight to witness the adventure unfold!
