At the forefront, Emmy Burger dominated at No. 1 singles, clinching her match with a convincing score of 6-3, 6-0. The doubles teams also delivered under pressure, with Elise Vander Bleek and Grace Tobias narrowly winning their No. 1 doubles match 6-1, 3-6, 10-8. Meanwhile, Frances Haley and Lauryn Hiatt fought hard at No. 3 doubles to secure a three-set victory, triumphing 7-5, 3-6, 10-7. Rounding out the team’s success, Ella Ford won decisively at No. 2 singles with a score of 6-0, 6-2.

In other local sports news, the Sterling girls golf team achieved a notable win against Rock Island, finishing with a total score of 201 to Rock Island’s 214. Toni Martinez led the charge for Sterling, shooting a 47 to secure runner-up honors, while teammate Emily Schwingle followed closely with a score of 48 during their senior night at Emerald Hill.

On the boys’ side, Alleman narrowly defeated Newman with a final score of 164 to 165, where Michael Morse shot a 38 and Jeff Thormeyer added a strong 39 at Indian Bluff Golf Course.
