Nine Albertans Honored Today with Alberta Order of Excellence

UPDATE: Nine Albertans, including three from Edmonton, received the prestigious Alberta Order of Excellence today, a recognition of their significant contributions to the province’s history and culture. The induction ceremony took place at Government House in Edmonton, led by Lt.-Gov. Salma Lakhani this afternoon.

The honorees, now entitled to use the post-nominals AOE, are Sine Chadi, John Day, and Doug Stollery. Their achievements have notably shaped Alberta’s civic landscape, making this recognition a critical moment for their communities.

Chadi, a prominent businessman and former MLA, was acknowledged for his philanthropic efforts with organizations such as the Al Rashid Mosque, the Glenrose Hospital Foundation, and the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. His work has had a profound impact on Alberta’s cultural and civic life.

Also honored, John Day has played a pivotal role in transforming the urban and cultural landscapes of both Edmonton and Jasper. His influence spans multiple sectors, including law and business, making him a vital figure in the province’s development.

Doug Stollery, currently the president of the Stollery Charitable Foundation, has completed an influential term as chancellor at the University of Alberta, where he also served on the Senate and Board of Governors. His contributions to education and health have significantly advanced the community.

In addition to the three Edmontonians, other recipients include Geoff Cumming, Brian and Stephanie Felesky of Calgary, Nichole Neubauer of Medicine Hat, Lyn Radford of Red Deer, and John Scott of Longview. Each honoree has demonstrated exceptional commitment to bettering Alberta, earning their place in this esteemed order.
