North Saanich Children’s Chorus Spreads Joy with O Canada Video
BREAKING: The REACH! Children’s Chorus is making headlines by spreading joy and patriotism across the Saanich Peninsula. Just announced, the group recently recorded a vibrant music video of O Canada, featuring stunning scenes from various local landmarks.
This talented chorus, comprising children ages 7 to 12, is set to perform live at the Canada Day ceremonies at the Legislature on July 1, 2023. Their efforts aim to foster community spirit and reinforce national pride through music.
The chorus has already captivated audiences with performances at significant events, including Human Solidarity Day and a benefit concert for refugees. Last December, the community flocked to the Shoal Centre in Sidney to join them for a festive Community Christmas Singalong, showcasing their exceptional talent and commitment to bringing people together.
Director Anne-Marie Brimacombe emphasizes the chorus’s mission: “We’re all about doing positive things in the community and bringing joy to others through music. No one is excluded due to economic circumstance.” This inclusive, non-auditioned group welcomes children with a passion for music and a desire to positively impact their surroundings.
The REACH! Children’s Chorus is one of seven programs operated by the West Coast Reach Association, a registered charity in the region dedicated to inclusion and diversity through the arts. Other initiatives include a program that helps newcomers learn English through singing and a recreational music program for adults with developmental disabilities, aptly named Joy of Music.
Weekly rehearsals are held at McTavish Academy of Art in North Saanich, with space available for new members this upcoming fall term. The REACH! program not only nurtures musical talent but also fosters long-lasting friendships among its participants, ensuring that everyone enjoys the thrill of performing and the joy of music.
As the chorus prepares for their upcoming live performance, the community eagerly anticipates their continued contributions to local events and the positive impact they make. Stay tuned for more updates on this inspiring group and their musical journey.
