UPDATE: A microwave fire in a Yorkville office building has left one person hospitalized, authorities confirm. The incident occurred on Friday, November 28, at approximately 11:21 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Bridge Street.

Emergency responders from the Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District quickly arrived on the scene after the Yorkville Police Department reported the fire was confined to a microwave. Fire crews confirmed the blaze was extinguished and began ventilating the affected area. Paramedics transported one individual to a local hospital; fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.

The fire department has indicated that the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but investigations are ongoing. This incident underscores the urgency of fire safety measures in commercial settings.

Earlier on the same day, fire crews were also dispatched to a separate incident involving a semi-truck fire at an outbuilding on Canton Farm Road. Responding at roughly 8:40 a.m., firefighters encountered a 100- by 150-foot structure engulfed in thick black smoke. Fortunately, no one was inside the outbuilding that housed various vehicles, including semi-trucks, cars, and boats.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control within seven minutes of their arrival. They utilized a large garage door to facilitate ventilation, and thanks to their rapid response, no other vehicles in the building were damaged.

The fire department is coordinating with additional agencies, including the Newark Fire Department, Oswego Fire Department, and Little Rock-Fox Fire Department, to investigate the cause of the truck fire, which remains under investigation. No monetary loss for property damages has been reported at this time.

As these incidents unfold, residents are urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety practices in their homes and workplaces. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
