BREAKING: Oswego Co-Op’s Alli Wiertel delivered an outstanding performance at the Rosie Invite, shooting a remarkable 63 to secure medalist honors by a stunning four strokes. The event took place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Naperville North, where the Oswego Co-Op girls team finished strong with a combined score of 307 to claim second place.

Wiertel’s impressive round included several birdies, showcasing her skill and determination on the course. Teammates also contributed to the team’s success, with Kendall Grant finishing in ninth place with a score of 77 and Giselle Resendez just behind at 78, securing a top-ten finish. Annabelle Williams added depth to the team with an 89.

Meanwhile, in cross-country action at the Rock River Run in Sterling, the Yorkville Foxes dominated the competition, winning both the boys’ and girls’ team championships. The boys’ team clinched victory with a total of 38 points, outpacing runner-up Belvidere North, which scored 69 points. Notable individual performances included Owen Horeni, who finished third with a time of 15:41.51, while teammates Carter Reichert, Ayden Nydegger, and Nicholas Sanchez rounded out the top ten.

The Yorkville girls’ team also excelled, earning the championship title with 50 points, ahead of runner-up Geneva with 61 points. Athena Triner led the way, finishing third with a time of 18:41.30, followed by Linden Moss in seventh at 18:53.08 and Annabelle Reeder in tenth at 19:01.70.

These results highlight the remarkable talent and competitive spirit of local athletes.
