Ottawa Senators Surge in Season Ticket Sales Ahead of Season

UPDATE: The Ottawa Senators are experiencing a surge in season ticket sales as they prepare for the upcoming NHL season. Following their playoff success last spring, the team has reported a double-digit increase in ticket sales, with training camp kicking off on September 17 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Brendan Duvall, vice-president of ticket sales and service, shared during Media Day that enthusiasm is at an all-time high. “We’ve made significant strides, and we’re going to keep working at it,” he stated. The team is on track to sell out all 100-level suites before puck drop, fueled by momentum from their recent playoff run.
The Senators will host the Nashville Predators in their home opener on October 13 at 1 p.m., following games against the Florida Panthers (October 9) and Tampa Bay Lightning (October 11). Last season, the Senators’ season ticket base was approximately 7,500, and it has continued to grow since their playoff appearance against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Cyril Leeder, the club’s president and CEO, confirmed that season ticket sales have risen by 15 to 20 percent compared to last year. “We’re still well below the league average of 11,000, but we’re making great progress,” Leeder noted. The Senators aim to reach this target within the next 24 to 36 months, emphasizing the importance of their recent successes.
Corporate support is also improving, with businesses buying season seats—a trend that Leeder believes is crucial. “We’ve got a number of businesses buying our seats, two and four at a time, and that’s kind of our sweet spot,” he explained. The Senators are focused on increasing their presence in the lower bowl, aiming for another 300 to 400 accounts to fill the 100-level seats entirely.
New modifications to the rink mean that a sellout will accommodate just under 18,000 fans. All 100-level seats have been upgraded, enhancing the overall fan experience. Additionally, the Senators will host a Fan Fest on September 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to their exhibition game against the Maple Leafs at 3 p.m.
This summer, the Senators secured partnerships with 13 new corporate sponsors, including a deal with Dr. Pepper, making the Canadian Tire Centre the first rink in Canada to offer this beverage. Fans can also expect a new lineup of food options as the club prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Tire Centre on January 17 with a visit from the Montreal Canadiens.
As excitement builds for the new season, the Ottawa Senators are poised to capitalize on their recent success, strengthening their connection with the community and enhancing the fan experience. The push for higher season ticket sales reflects not just a sports team’s ambitions but also a city’s renewed enthusiasm for hockey. Stay tuned for further updates as the season approaches!
