UPDATE: The Owen Sound Attack has just clinched a thrilling 7-5 victory against the North Bay Battalion in their final exhibition game at the Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens. This decisive win on September 30, 2023, wraps up the Attack’s pre-season with a solid 3-2-0 record, setting the stage for an exciting regular season ahead.

With all three regular goaltenders away at professional camps, the Attack turned to Zack Irvin, an 18-year-old rookie, who stepped up magnificently, making 34 saves in a stellar performance. Irvin, drafted in the 10th round by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in 2023, is set to play for the Waterloo Siskins this year.

The game featured a standout performance from Jacob Therrien, who scored two goals against his former team, the Battalion. The 19-year-old was ejected after an altercation with Arseny Pronin, receiving an instigator penalty and game misconduct, adding to the drama of the match.

Owen Sound’s offensive effort was bolstered by goals from Cole Zurawksi, Max Delisle, John Banks, Noah Nelson, and Ethan Kindree. Notably, Pierce Mbuyi, Masen Wray, and Braedyn Rogers contributed with assists, showcasing a well-rounded team effort.

For North Bay, Parker Vaughn led the charge with two goals and two assists, while Johnathan Kapageridis, Brandt Harper, and Cam Warren also found the net.

The Attack managed one power-play goal on four attempts, while North Bay capitalized twice on seven opportunities. Jack Lisson was in goal for the Battalion, making 21 saves on 28 shots.

As the exhibition season concludes, the Owen Sound Attack is gearing up to face the defending OHL and Memorial Cup Champion London Knights in their regular season opener at Canada Life Place on October 7, 2023, at 7 p.m.

In a notable roster change, the Attack recently released defenceman Gabe Smith, a third-round pick in 2023, who played in 75 games over two seasons. Meanwhile, they have added overager Noah Nelson on a tryout basis. The 20-year-old forward brings significant OHL experience, having played 197 games and recording 54 points across his career.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the regular season, and with such a strong finish to the exhibition schedule, the Owen Sound Attack appears poised for a competitive season ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as the action unfolds!
