URGENT UPDATE: Peel Police are actively searching for a suspect following the shocking murder of a man in his 50s in Brampton on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Emergency crews rushed to a residence near Clearjoy Street and Southlake Boulevard around 3:15 p.m. to respond to reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with traumatic injuries, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of death, with details pending on whether the man sustained gunshot wounds or stab injuries.
Acting Sgt. Tyler Bell of Peel Police confirmed that the homicide bureau has taken over the investigation. “We are still gathering information, but it is clear that the suspect and the victim knew each other,” Bell stated. A suspect, described as a man in his mid-20s wearing dark clothing, was seen fleeing the scene on foot.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident with no broader safety concern for the public,” Bell assured. However, he acknowledged that a man fitting the suspect’s description lives at the residence where the incident occurred. Investigators are working diligently to confirm the suspect’s identity, emphasizing the urgency of their search.
In a direct message to the suspect, Bell stated, “We’re looking for you, and we’re not going to stop until we get you. It won’t be long.” The police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
