Prescott Man Arrested for DUI After Rollover Crash on Hwy. 416
UPDATE: A man from Prescott, Ontario faced serious charges after registering more than twice the legal alcohol limit following a dramatic rollover crash on Highway 416. Emergency crews rushed to the scene near Hunt Club Road just before 1 a.m. this morning to respond to reports of the incident.
Authorities confirm that the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol. “A roadside screening device was utilized, and the driver was brought back to detachment for a breath test,” said OPP Constable Michael Fathi. The results shocked officials as the driver registered over 0.16%, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 0.08%.
The driver is now facing multiple charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle and operating while impaired by alcohol and drugs. Additionally, he faces charges for operating with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. Following the incident, his driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
This alarming event underscores the dangers of impaired driving and the potential consequences of such reckless behavior. Authorities are urging the public to prioritize safety on the roads, especially during late-night hours when the risks of impaired driving increase.
