Prince Albert Catholic School Board Schedules Urgent Meetings
URGENT UPDATE: The Prince Albert Catholic School Division is taking decisive action by scheduling crucial meetings with the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) and the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association (SCSBA). This development was confirmed during the board’s regular meeting on December 15, 2025, where director of education Lorel Trumier emphasized the importance of engaging with the leadership of both organizations.
“We’re very fortunate,” Trumier stated, highlighting the active involvement of Dr. Shaun Davidson from the SSBA and Vicky Bonnell from the SCSBA. The boards are eager to discuss operational improvements that can directly benefit the school division. Trumier noted, “Their executive directors also bring some knowledge and some operational items that could benefit our school division.”
The meetings are expected to be arranged either in-person or virtually in the New Year, with Trumier tasked to propose potential dates. She assured the board that these discussions are highly valued and have historically proven beneficial. “We’ve been very active in having these meetings,” she said, indicating a commitment to collaboration and improvement.
In a related development, the board has awarded a significant contract to P & F Heating and Cooling for the replacement of an air handling unit at Ecole Holy Cross. This project, which is a part of the division’s Preventative Maintenance and Renewal (PMR) initiative, was also confirmed during the December 15 meeting.
The air handling unit on the west side of the school will be replaced following the completion of work on the east side. Trumier stressed the necessity of this project, stating, “We know that our aging schools do require some major intervention for operational function and the HVAC units are very expensive.”
The decision to move forward with this essential upgrade comes after a tender process initiated on November 7, which drew four bids, with P & F Heating and Cooling being selected after the bid closed on November 27. “Unfortunately, the cost is very high, but it’s so important and we know that it has an impact on the quality of every child in that school,” Trumier explained.
As the Prince Albert Catholic School Division prepares for these meetings and critical projects, the focus remains on enhancing the learning environment for students. The community is urged to stay tuned for updates as the board finalizes arrangements and embarks on these vital discussions.
