UPDATE: The latest enrolment report from the Prince Albert Catholic School Division reveals a consistent number of students compared to last year, with 3,160 students attending as of September 30, 2023. This figure marks a slight decrease from 3,198 students reported in 2022, according to education director Lorel Trumier.

At the board’s regular meeting on Monday, Trumier confirmed that the enrolment numbers align closely with projections. “The numbers are coming in as we projected,” she stated, expressing satisfaction with the overall trends. The division has noted increases at Ecole St. Anne and a modest rise at Ecole St. Mary High School, indicating a positive outlook for the academic year.

The report highlights that 21 homeschooled students are included in the total, credited to the division by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, 181 students are enrolled in pre-kindergarten courses, while 179 are in kindergarten.

Breaking down the language demographics, total English enrolment stands at 2,958 students, while 863 students are enrolled in French. Notably, French Immersion continues to represent 30 percent of the division’s total enrolment.

Ecole St. Anne has seen significant growth, now housing 643 students, an increase from 612 last year. Ecole St. Mary High School also shows a slight uptick with 1,054 students, compared to 1,048 last year. Other schools in the division report the following enrolments: St. Michael School with 192 students, St. John School at 349, St. Francis School with 300, St. Catherine School at 119, and Holy Cross with 301.

The enrolment figures, as reported to the Ministry of Education, are crucial as they help determine the funding allocated to each division. With these consistent numbers, the Prince Albert Catholic School Division anticipates a successful year ahead. As Trumier emphasized, “We’re happy about that. I think we’re going to have a great year.”

Stay tuned for further updates as the school year progresses.
