Princeton Tigresses Sweep Kewanee in Volleyball Showdown
BREAKING: The Princeton Tigresses delivered a stunning performance, sweeping the Kewanee Boilermakers with scores of 25-20 and 25-14 in a pivotal Three Rivers East volleyball match on September 4, 2023, at Prouty Gym. This decisive victory showcases the Tigresses’ dominance in the league and sets the tone for their upcoming matches.
Caroline Keutzer was the star of the match, smashing down 10 kills to lead her team to victory. Kathy Maciczak contributed significantly, serving up 12 points and securing two aces. Other key players included Keely Lawson with nine digs and six points, Keighley Davis who added eight points and five kills, and Makayla Hecht, who facilitated the game with 22 assists.
In boys golf action, Princeton’s Jackson Mason dominated the course, claiming medalist honors with a score of 34. His stellar performance helped Princeton secure a 171 to 190 victory over Kewanee at Chapel Hills Golf Course. Other notable contributors included Stihl Brokaw with a score of 42, Noah Morton at 44, and Beckett Funderberg who finished with 51. Additionally, Princeton’s junior varsity team triumphed with a score of 194 to 230, led by Eli Coomer with a score of 44.
In cross country at St. Bede, the Bruins showcased their strength by placing four runners in the top 11 positions. Chris Gedraitis finished sixth with a time of 17:55.39, followed by Adrian Hermosilo in ninth at 18:50.42, Dominik Avila in tenth at 19:01.83, and Bryce Keckler in eleventh at 19:04.74. St. Bede scored 33 points to secure victory over HBR (44 points), Henry (73 points), and Marquette (88 points).
In the girls’ race, St. Bede’s Jenna Finely secured a commendable second place with a time of 21:22.83. Yesenia Avila followed in ninth at 24:57.89 while Lin Lin placed eighteenth at 30:55.99.
These impressive performances from the Princeton teams not only highlight their athleticism but also foster school spirit and community pride.
