Quinn Priester Thrives with Brewers Ahead of Cubs Showdown
UPDATE: Quinn Priester is set to make his highly anticipated start for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Chicago Cubs today at 7:10 PM CDT at American Family Field. This matchup marks a significant moment for Priester, who has transformed his career since being traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Brewers earlier this season.
The 24-year-old right-hander, drafted 18th overall in 2019, was seen as a promising talent by Pittsburgh. However, after two challenging seasons, he left the Pirates with a 6.46 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP in 20 appearances. His year-long journey has been tumultuous, but Priester’s recent performances have ignited hope for a breakout season, as he now boasts a 3.28 ERA and a 6-2 record since joining the Brewers.
Priester reflected on his journey, stating, “A lot can change in a year,” highlighting the drastic shift in his career trajectory. One year ago, he was struggling in Arizona with the Pirates, but now he is thriving with the Brewers, who have supported him in unleashing his potential.
Since joining Milwaukee, Priester is riding a remarkable 7-0 streak with a 2.47 ERA since June 4. His development has been accelerated by the Brewers’ coaching staff, particularly pitching coach Chris Hook, who has provided invaluable guidance. “They believe in me,” Priester said, emphasizing the positive impact of the team’s support.
Priester’s recent performances include striking out 10 batters against the Dodgers on July 18 and 11 against the Rockies on June 28, showcasing his ability to dominate on the mound. His success is attributed to improved pitch command and a new cutter that has been effective in games.
As he prepares to face the Cubs, Priester’s confidence is evident. “When you’re winning, you don’t want to be the guy that messes that up,” he stated. His drive to succeed is fueled by the Brewers’ winning culture, which has helped him regain his footing in the league.
Priester’s personal life has also seen significant developments, including his engagement to longtime girlfriend Regan Dineen, a former athlete at Marian Central. The couple plans to wed in the offseason, adding a personal touch to his incredible journey.
The Brewers, currently contending for the NL Central title, are optimistic about Priester’s contributions as they aim for another championship run. His story resonates with fans who appreciate resilience and determination, making this evening’s game against the Cubs a must-watch event.
As Priester steps onto the field tonight, all eyes will be on him as he aims to continue his breakout season and help the Brewers solidify their place atop the division. The stakes are high, and Priester is ready to deliver.
