Raiders Secure Thrilling 4-3 Overtime Victory Over Oil Kings
UPDATE: The Prince Albert Raiders achieved a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory against the Edmonton Oil Kings on July 15, 2023, sealing their road trip with an exhilarating finish. Daxon Rudolph emerged as the hero, scoring twice, including the dramatic game-winner just 48 seconds into overtime.
The match began with high stakes as both teams sought momentum. Early in the first period, the Oil Kings appeared to score during their much-anticipated Teddy Bear Toss moment when Luka Sawchyn’s shot found the net. As the game entered the third period, both teams continued to battle fiercely. With less than four minutes remaining, a high-stick incident on McCagherty led to a double minor for the Raiders, giving them a crucial power play opportunity. Despite their efforts, the Raiders were unable to convert in regulation, setting the stage for an intense overtime showdown.
In the overtime period, the Raiders controlled the play on a 4-on-3 power play. After several attempts, Rudolph found the back of the net again, banking a shot off a defender to secure the game-winning goal. The final score: Raiders 4, Oil Kings 3.
