Raptors Rally for Urgent 122-115 Victory Over Suns
BREAKING: The Toronto Raptors achieved a crucial 122-115 victory over the Phoenix Suns on March 14, 2026, marking their first win against a team with a winning record in 19 games. This decisive game unfolded at Scotiabank Arena, where the Raptors rallied late to secure the much-needed triumph.
With just 45 seconds remaining, Jalen Green drove to the basket for a layup that could have brought the Suns within two points. However, Scottie Barnes, a frontrunner for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, denied the attempt with a stunning block, sending the ball off the backboard. The defensive play led to an explosive dunk by RJ Barrett, pushing Toronto ahead 116-110.
Barrett, who contributed 22 points including nine critical points in the fourth quarter, emphasized the importance of plays like Barnes’s block, stating, “That was insane, it was crazy. Those are the type of plays you need to win.” The Raptors improved to 37-29 this season, currently sitting in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, just half a game behind the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat, with 16 games remaining.
In a game that reflected the team’s resilience, Barrett also recorded six rebounds and five assists. “We fought all night long, and that’s the result,” he noted. The Raptors now look to build on this momentum after a challenging stretch, having gone 4-18 against top NBA teams this season.
All-star forward Brandon Ingram led all scorers with an impressive 36 points, including five three-pointers. Ingram, who has struggled with injuries, remarked on the struggle of maintaining consistency throughout the season: “It’s not going to be perfect all the time, and it definitely hasn’t been perfect for me, but it’s important to keep going.”
Despite battling illness, Scottie Barnes contributed significantly with 14 points and six rebounds. Head coach Darko Rajakovic commended his dedication, stating, “He showed up big. He completely emptied the tank today to try to help the team.”
The Raptors’ victory comes on the heels of a team meeting following their 122-111 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, where tensions were high in the closing moments. Barrett reflected on the importance of this win, saying, “We’ve hit a little rough patch, and wins like that are what we’ve got to do: scratch, claw, fight and get those wins.”
As the Raptors gear up for the final stretch of the season, fans are hopeful this victory can spark a turnaround. Keep an eye on their upcoming games as they aim to solidify their playoff position and reclaim their competitive edge.
