RCMP Shoots and Kills Man in Crisis on Sunshine Coast

UPDATE: A man has been shot and killed by the RCMP during a crisis situation at a home on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded after officers were alerted about a man in crisis with a weapon around 3:30 a.m., according to the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO).

Authorities report that upon arrival, officers located the man, who subsequently entered a residence. Inside, they discovered that four other individuals were present, including at least one child. Police entered the home just before 4:30 a.m. and managed to safely evacuate three occupants.

In a shocking turn of events, shots were fired by police during the interaction with the man at approximately 10:30 a.m.. The man was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the individuals inside the home at the time were unharmed, the IIO confirmed.
