UPDATE: The Regina Pats have just announced a significant trade, sending 20-year-old goaltender Kelton Pyne to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft. This urgent development comes as the Pats look to reshape their roster amidst the ongoing season.

In his brief tenure this season, Pyne participated in just two games, recording an 0-0-1 record alongside a 5.76 goals-against average and an .818 save percentage. Over his four-year career with the Pats from 2021 to 2025, the White City, Sask. native played a total of 104 games, ranking 17th in franchise history for games played by a goaltender.

Pyne’s overall career stats include a record of 31 wins, 47 losses, and 10 overtime losses, with a 3.97 GAA, an .880 save percentage, and three shutouts. His contributions to the team have been significant, making this trade a notable moment for both the player and the organization.

Regina Pats General Manager Dale Derkatch expressed gratitude towards Pyne in a media release, stating, “We would like to thank Kelton for his time with the Pats and wish him nothing but the best with the Giants. As a local player, Kelton was a great ambassador for the Pats both on and off the ice and made a significant impact on our organization during his time here.”

This trade highlights the ongoing strategy by the Pats to focus on future prospects while giving Pyne an opportunity to continue his career with the Giants. Fans and supporters will be watching closely as the impact of this trade unfolds in the upcoming games.
