Remembering John Angelo Sant: A Life of Adventure and Love
John Angelo Sant, affectionately known as Jonny and “The General,” passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2026, in Windermere, British Columbia. He was 73 years old. Born on July 10, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario, John was part of a large and loving family that shaped his character and values.
A Life Rooted in Nature and Family
John’s early years were spent partly on a farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. This connection to nature fostered an adventurous spirit that led him to explore various parts of Canada, especially Salt Spring Island and Victoria, where he enjoyed the salt air and freedom, often stirring up a bit of harmless mischief.
His journey took a significant turn when he met his wife, Patty Sant, in Calgary, Alberta. Together, they built a life centered on family, work, and shared experiences. Eventually, they settled in Windermere, where John embraced the valley as his home.
Passions and Legacy
John was known for his love of fishing, sports cars, motorcycles, woodworking, and camping. He found joy in the outdoors, often seen with a fishing rod in hand or in his workshop crafting unique pieces. His passion for engines and horsepower was matched only by his deep affection for animals, as he had a special place in his heart for them throughout his life.
John is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Patty; his son Charles (Angie); his daughters Carley (Clay) and Katie (Erik); his sisters Linda, Cecilia, and Frances; family friend Katja; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
He was predeceased by his father, John; his mother, Joan; and his stepmother, Stella. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s name to the SPCA, honoring his lifelong love for animals. More details can be found at mcphersonfh.com.
