Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan Marks 40 Years with $400K Campaign
BREAKING: Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan (RMHC-SK) is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an urgent fundraising campaign aiming to raise $400,000 for families of children facing serious health challenges. Since opening its doors in 1985, RMHC-SK has provided critical support for over 28,000 families during their toughest times.
The charity has achieved 86 percent of its $39.9 million fundraising goal towards the expansion of its facilities under the Miles to Go Campaign. Notably, two new Ronald McDonald Houses are currently under construction, including one in Prince Albert.
The celebratory fundraiser kicked off on Saturday, October 14, 2023, with a community BBQ and family-friendly events across Saskatchewan. In Prince Albert, supporters got a glimpse of the future facility through artist renderings, highlighting a home that will accommodate 12 families in private rooms, complete with a large kitchen area and spaces for gaming and fitness.
Tammy Forrester, CEO of RMHC-SK, expressed her gratitude for the community’s support, stating,
“The matching gift of $100,000 to the Miles to Go Campaign to support Saskatchewan families is a true investment into the families of our province.”
The generous donation from Mosaic as a matching donor underscores the urgency of this campaign, as families in the north face significant challenges accessing specialized healthcare.
Currently, RMHC-SK operates a room within Victoria Hospital, offering families a place to stay while their children receive treatment. The new building, situated less than a block from the hospital, aims to enhance family-centered care during difficult times, addressing the critical need for support in northern Saskatchewan.
To further engage the community, RMHC-SK is encouraging public participation through the ‘Forty for 40 Fundraiser’, inviting individuals to gather 40 people to contribute $40 each. Participants can register at rmhcsk.ca, helping to ensure that families have a place to stay when they need it the most.
As RMHC-SK embarks on this milestone year, the organization is not only reflecting on its past but also looking ahead to a future where families can find comfort and support during life’s most challenging moments. The urgency of this campaign cannot be overstated, as every contribution will directly impact families in need across Saskatchewan.
Stay tuned for updates on the fundraising progress and the developments of the new facilities that will provide hope to countless families.
