Rotary Clubs Host Urgent Breakfast to Boost Literacy on Nov. 19

URGENT UPDATE: The Rotary Clubs of Victoria-Saanich and Oak Bay are hosting a critical fundraising breakfast on November 19, 2023, to support the Victoria Literacy Connection. This event, taking place at the Victoria Marriott Hotel from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, aims to enhance literacy programs that transform lives and improve educational outcomes in the community.

Participants can join a lively spelling bee competition that promises to challenge even the most seasoned spellers with difficult words across various categories. “This event will engage lawyers, accountants, teachers, and students alike,” said Liz Lecavalier, coordinator from the Oak Bay Rotary Club. The table that spells 15 words correctly will win a trophy and, of course, bragging rights.

Registration is $50 per person or $400 for a team of eight, which includes a hearty continental breakfast. All funds raised will directly benefit the vital programs of the Victoria Literacy Connection, which has supported thousands of children and youth in developing essential reading, writing, and learning skills.
