URGENT UPDATE: A remarkable achievement has just been announced for Sarah Masse, a recent graduate of Reynolds Secondary in Saanich. The talented student has been awarded a substantial $50,000 scholarship from The Cmolik Foundation to support her post-secondary studies in biochemistry and forensic science.
This scholarship recognizes Masse’s extraordinary journey of overcoming adversity while excelling academically. “As Sarah’s Science 10 teacher, I witnessed firsthand her exceptional work ethic, resilience, and dedication to both her education and community,” stated Tracey Foster, a teacher at Reynolds Secondary. Foster highlighted Masse’s unique combination of ambition and humility, which positions her as an inspiring role model for her peers.
Masse is set to begin her studies at the University of British Columbia next month, where she will pursue a dual major in biochemistry and forensic science. “I have been very interested in science for the past few years, especially lab and practical work,” Masse expressed, emphasizing her passion for the field.

Following her university education, she plans to work for a forensic science lab with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), further demonstrating her aspiration to make a significant impact in her community.
Founded in 2008, The Cmolik Foundation aims to provide scholarships for youth who have faced challenges in their lives. Currently, over 100 students across British Columbia benefit from this scholarship program. The foundation emphasizes the transformative power of education, stating, “In addition to providing students with the funding to realize their dreams, the foundation provides students with a mentor, a supportive community of scholarship peers and alumni, as well as access to ongoing special events and professional opportunities.”
Sarah Masse’s story is not just about a scholarship; it’s a testament to perseverance and the belief that education can change lives. With her sights set on a future in forensic science, she represents the potential of young minds ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
As the community celebrates her achievement, all eyes will be on Masse as she embarks on this new chapter in her academic career, armed with the support of The Cmolik Foundation and her unwavering determination.
