Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre Appoints Sandra Moore as Director
BREAKING NEWS: The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) has just announced the appointment of Sandra Moore as its new executive director, effective September 15. This significant leadership change comes as the center aims to drive innovation and economic development in the region.
Moore brings over 20 years of extensive experience in academia, innovation, and economic development, making her a key asset for SSMIC. She previously served as the inaugural director of the Cleantech Academy and Innovation Centre in Prince Edward Island, where she successfully accelerated economic growth in the province’s clean technology sector by fostering collaborative partnerships.
In her new role, Moore will oversee crucial programs such as Acorn, Harvest Algoma, and RAIN, which are vital for local and provincial communities. “I am excited to become the next executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre,” Moore stated. “SSMIC is an incredibly dynamic organization with so much potential ahead.”
Moore’s appointment marks a pivotal moment for the Innovation Centre, succeeding Peter Bruijns, who has led the organization for the past seven and a half years. Bruijns will remain to assist with the transition, ensuring continuity during this critical time.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sandra to the SSMIC family,” said Mike Biocchi, vice chair of the Board of Directors. “Her leadership experience, passion for innovation, and strong network make her the ideal choice to take the organization forward.”
The SSMIC’s commitment to enhancing economic opportunities through innovation is more crucial than ever, and Moore’s leadership is expected to play a significant role in achieving these goals. As the community watches closely, the focus now shifts to how Moore will leverage her expertise to guide SSMIC into its next chapter.
Expect more updates as Sandra Moore steps into her new role and the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre embarks on this exciting journey.
