School Buses Cancelled in Quinte Region Due to Heavy Snow
UPDATE: All school buses and taxi transportation in the Quinte Region have been canceled for Wednesday, December 6, 2023, due to severe snowfall that began overnight. This decision by Tri-Board Student Transportation Services affects thousands of local students, with significant snow accumulation expected throughout the day.
While schools will remain open, parents and guardians are advised that any students who are driven to school will need to be picked up at the end of the day. This urgent update comes as authorities warn of hazardous conditions on the roads, making travel unsafe for school buses.
IMPORTANT: This weather disruption is not limited to Quinte, as school buses have also been canceled in Northumberland. The STSCO (Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario) has confirmed that all busing for schools under the jurisdiction of KPR, PVNC, and MonAvenir is also canceled today due to inclement weather.
As of 5:35 AM, officials are closely monitoring the storm and advise families to stay updated on weather-related cancellations through the official website: https://triboard.ca/snowdays/.
With students’ safety as the top priority, this developing situation highlights the impact of winter weather on local education. Parents are encouraged to plan accordingly and ensure that students have safe transportation options today.
Stay tuned for more updates as the weather evolves and further announcements are made.
