URGENT UPDATE: Ski resorts across the region are announcing their opening dates as winter weather finally sets in, with Horseshoe Resort leading the charge by confirming it will open on December 5, 2023. Following recent cold nights and ongoing snowmaking efforts, the resort is optimistic about welcoming skiers and snowboarders in just over a week.

Just north of Horseshoe, Mount St. Louis Moonstone is eagerly anticipating its opening day but is yet to finalize a date. Officials are targeting either December 5, 6, or 7, depending on weather conditions and snowmaking progress. Staff are committed to announcing the precise date as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Snow Valley is taking a more cautious approach. Officials indicate that they are still awaiting a green light and realistically expect to open after December 9. Although snowmaking has commenced, a consistent cold spell is crucial for a successful opening weekend.

On a more optimistic note, Blue Mountain has confirmed its opening date for December 11, 2023. Resort officials emphasized that while they are ready to proceed, actual conditions will dictate the timing. They remain flexible and ready to move the date earlier if temperatures permit.

With temperatures finally dropping and more snow in the forecast, the upcoming week is pivotal for ski resorts. Local skiers should begin preparing for the season ahead as conditions evolve rapidly. Stay tuned for updates as resorts finalize their plans and confirm opening dates.
