SRD K9s Launches First Indoor Dog Market to Fund Canine Services
URGENT UPDATE: The Search, Recovery and Detection Dogs of BC (SRD K9s) is set to host its inaugural indoor dog-themed market on August 17, aiming to raise vital funds and celebrate the incredible work of its canine teams. This exciting event will take place at the SRD K9s facility located at 101-780 Windsor Ave from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This unique Summer Dog Lovers Market will showcase a curated selection of local dog-focused businesses and services, including dog walkers, trainers, groomers, and pet photographers. Attendees can also explore a variety of handmade treats and apparel, all while supporting a great cause.
In addition to the vendor booths, the market will feature food trucks, a face painter for children, and a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and community supporters. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of all things canine, according to organizer and board member Bianca Migueles. She emphasized the importance of the market, stating,
“Events like this help fund real-life searches — covering gas, lodging, equipment, and training so we can keep doing what we do best: finding the missing and giving families hope.”
Admission to the market is by donation, and while the event is dog-free to ensure a safe environment, it provides a unique opportunity for attendees to meet SRD K9s teams, learn about the science of scent detection, and witness a live demonstration of their skills.
This groundbreaking event is crucial for SRD K9s, which operates entirely on donations, underscoring the urgent need for community support. With just days to go, dog lovers and supporters are encouraged to mark their calendars and participate in this meaningful initiative.
