Submissions Open Now for Island’s Got Talent: Vote Today!

UPDATE: The third week of CHEK’s Island’s Got Talent competition is LIVE! The search for extraordinary performances from local talents heats up as viewers are invited to submit their videos immediately. Each Wednesday throughout October, the top three submissions will be showcased on CHEK News’ 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. broadcasts, with viewers voting for their favorites.
This week’s submissions are due by October 15, 2025, with the winner announced live on October 16. The stakes are high, as the grand prize winner will take home a $1,000 gift card to The Old Farm Market.
The competition, presented by The Old Farm Market and The Upside, encourages participants to showcase their unique skills and hidden talents. Last week, Rick Benn from Campbell River won with his original song, “You’re Never Too Old to Dance in the Kitchen.” Now, the spotlight is on this week’s finalists:
Exit 30 – A dynamic band of young musicians aged 13-20 from Campbell River, Exit 30 is known for their love of rock music. Recently voted Fan Favourite at the Vancouver Island’s Zattzoo Project’s Battle of the Bands, they’ve made a name for themselves with performances at major events, including the Canada Day Concert and Concerts in the Park Series in Nanaimo. Their cover of “Born to be Wild” showcases their energetic style.
Kieran and Clare – This duo debuted an original song at a photography exhibit in Nanaimo. Clare has just launched her debut album, produced by Kieran, under the name Nexus. Both are recent graduates of Vancouver Island University’s BA of Digital Media Studies program and are now based in Victoria, where they continue to create music that resonates with audiences.
James Vickers Band – Formed in July 2023, this blues-rock band from Nanaimo features 15-year-old rising star James Vickers, who has already made waves by performing at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. With an EP released in 2024 and a full album on the way, they are quickly gaining traction, with a recent performance at the Harbour Blues ‘n Roots Festival that left audiences wanting more.
Voting takes place every Wednesday night until the end of the month. Viewers can cast their votes by emailing [email protected]. On October 29, all weekly winners will compete live on CHEK News for the ultimate title of champion.
